Kansas City Shines at Missouri Invitational

The Kansas City track and field team turned in an outstanding showing at the Missouri Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri on Friday.
Shanelle Williams and Sydia Darker placed 1-2 in the women's 60-meter hurdles preliminary round, with Williams winning in the finals, and Darker coming in third place, with times of 8.57 and 8.88, respectively. Williams' final time of 8.57 is a new school record and the fastest WAC time of the season, while Darker's 8.88 is now the fourth fastest time in school history.
Michelle Momo won the women's long jump with a distance of 5.67m in the finals.
Dahlia Dyson won the women's weight throw with a finals distance of 18.26m. She placed fourth in the women's shot put with a finals distance of 12.92m. Her weight throw mark is first in the WAC this year. Kelsey Benoit placed fifth in the women's weight throw with a distance of 16.18m.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a seeding phase time of 3:18.65 and a finals time of 3:25.43.
Daniel Prioleau placed third in the men's 200-meter dash with a seeding phase time of 22.46 and a finals time of 22.68.
Terrone Garner placed fourth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.95 seconds, and a finals time of 50.99 seconds.
Freshman James Barnett ran the men's 3,000-meter run in 8:43.73 in the finals which was good for fifth.
Joshua Schirmer placed seventh in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.45 seconds. James Martin placed fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.54m in the finals.
Blake Hocking threw the shot put 15.75m – good for sixth place. Meanwhile, Kris Leverette earned a sixth place finish in the men's weight throw with a finals distance of 16.85m.
UMKC placed second in the 4x400 meter relay with a team time of 3:56.66 in the finals.
Momo placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.56 seconds, tying a school record she set last year. She ran a 7.72 in the finals. Momo placed second in the women's 200-meter dash, with a finals time of 25.33.
Shanelle Williams ran a 25.93 in the finals of the 200-meter dash for a fourth place finish.
Briana Carter placed third in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 57.96 in the finals. Carter came in second in the women's triple jump with a finals distance of 12.06m. Momo placed fifth.
Freshman Brooke Guiot placed seventh in the women's 800-meter run with a seeding time of 2:17.39. She was trailed by Angel Gannon who ran a finals time of 2:22.47.
Katie Tuck placed fifth in the women's one mile run with a finals time of 5:16.37. She was trailed by Kelly Carpenter, who ran a finals time of 5:20.50.
Next up for the 'Roos is a trip to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14.
