Field events took center stage for the Roos in Pittsburg this past weekend
PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Kansas City Track & Field gathered numerous positive results at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up on Sunday afternoon. Amidst the uncooperative weather across the region, several Roos put together season or even career-best marks on the track and in the field.Â
Most notably, Naomi Eyanagho continues her dominance in the shot put as the junior thrower notched a mark of 14.57 meters which was the second best throw in the event. Eyanagho's excellent throw would be good for the third farthest toss of the season by a Summit League athlete. The Prosper, Texas native still holds first in the conference in the shot put thanks to a program record fling of 15.74 meters last weekend.Â
Elsewhere in the field, Makenzie Doolin put up a 1.62-meter mark in the high jump, tying her career-best in the event. Doolin finished sixth at the meet and is seventh in the Summit League for the high jump. On the men's side, Hunter Ross totaled a fifth-place leap of 14.63 meters, tying his season-best mark and helping him retain the seventh place standing in the conference.Â
On the track, Harper Barlow set a new career-best time of 4:50.11 in the 1500-meter dash, surpassing her prior best by over four seconds and finishing ninth in the event. Kopelyn Delong also finished with a career-best time in the 1500m, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:11.65, besting her prior best by nearly five seconds.Â
