
Clunis Sets School Record in 100M at Rock Chalk Classic

The Kingston, Jamaica native crossed the finish line in 10.28 seconds
LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas City Track & Field built upwards momentum as the conference meet approaches at the Rock Chalk Classic this weekend, showcasing numerous top placements inside the top five of several different events. The Roos were also top three in the women's shot put, men's 100-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay, including an outright win in the 100m. Stephen Clunis became the king of Kansas City's 100-meter dash record books on Saturday, dashing a time of 10.28 seconds which is also the second fastest time in the Summit League.Â
Also in the 100m, Jared Wipf and Stephen Brown came through with stellar times, going 10.56 and 10.66 to finish in fifth and sixth place respectively. Elsewhere, Brendan Badie nabbed third in the 400m hurdles, running a time of 52.72 seconds to take third in the event which nearly broke his career-best time of 52.70 that he set at the John McDonnell Invite earlier this season. The 4x400-meter dash went well for the Roos as the 'A Team' clocked in at 3:10.24, the second fastest time in the event.Â
Naomi Eyanagho took third in the shot put with a throw of 14.11 meters, giving the junior her fourth top three finish of the outdoor season. The Roos also got strong results in the women's sprints, with Jacky-Perez Vela coming in with a time of 54.77 seconds in the women's 400m, the fourth fastest time in the event. Additionally, Sarah Wulfert crossed the 100-meter dash finish line in 12.26 seconds, the fourth fastest time in the event.Â
