Eyanagho, Perez-Vela Set School Records at Arkansas Spring Invitational

FAYETTVILLE, Ark. -- Kansas City Track & Field put together several impressive performances with two events won, two program records set and four top three finishes at the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon. In short, Naomi Eyanagho and Jacky Perez-Vela set school records while Mariah Belmont took first place and Tory Lanham recorded a top 10 time in the country.

Eyanagho, the Roos shot put star, tallied a career-best throw of 15.74 meters to take first place in the event. That throw is bested her previous school record mark of 14.69 meters that she set last week at the CMU Invite. Eyanagho's toss is not only first in the Summit League by over a full meter, but it also ranks 19th in the NCAA West region and 49th in the country.

Perez-Vela, a 2026 Summit Indoor All-League selection, registered a new personal and school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.16 seconds. Perez-Vela sits atop the Summit in the 400m and is one of three athletes in the conference to record a sub-55 second time in the 400m this outdoor season.

Belmont, the Roos top distance runner, took first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:33.77, the second fastest time in school history. The sophomore now has a new career-best time in the event and sits in second in the Summit League while also holding 35th place in the NCAA West region.

Lanham, a 2025 NCAA Second Team All-American, held is own against some of the fastest runners in the country with a time of 20.47 seconds in the 200-meter dash. The time was good for third in the event and only trails his own PR time of 20.33 seconds in the school record books. Even more notable, Lanham sits as the fifth fastest runner in the NCAA West region and the ninth fastest in the nation overall.
