Frerichs Breaks Records at Hoosier Open, Others Compete at K-State

(Bloomington, Ind.) -- Friday, the UMKC track and field competed at the Hoosier Open hosted by the University of Indiana. Courtney Frerichs won the 5000m run and beat the school record by 31 seconds.
Frerichs was back in action as she easily surpassed all of her competitors in the 5000m run by several seconds with her time of 15:48. This time beat the school record by 31 seconds and is currently the 4th best time in the nation. It also breaks the 15-year-old WAC all-time record of 16:09 by 21 seconds. It should comfortably qualifier her for the indoor NCAA championships in March.
The 'Roos also sent some multi-event athletes to Kansas State for the Carol Robinson Pentathlon. On the men's side, Zane Lockhart took fourth with 2,593 points, while Garrison Woods was seventh with 2,246 points.
For the women, Patricia Miller (2,981) was fourth, followed in sixth place by Daiwa Emmert (2,486).
