
?Roos Look to Close Season on a Good Note at South Dakota

Closing in on completing its first season official season as a member of The Summit League, South Dakota has dropped five out of the last six matches, with its last victory occurring on Oct. 19 at North Dakota State in a 3-2 contest.
Offensively, forward Jenny Teslow leads the Coyotes in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Behind her, midfielder Danielle Anderson is second in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points, while midfielder Erin Bello leads South Dakota in assists with three to go along with three goals for nine points.
In the net, three keepers have seen action throughout 2012 with Jen Shaefer (2-7-1) and Abby Lindsay (0-3-1) seeing most of the minutes. For Shaefer, she has logged over 800 minutes in 12 games while giving up 19 goals, tallying 39 saves, and recording one shutout. Lindsay, meanwhile, has played in eight games (858 minutes) and given up 20 goals along with saving 29 shots.
» The Head Coach: Mandy Green is in her third season at the helm and holds a 7-40-8 overall record throughout her tenure.
» The Series: The Kangaroos are 1-1-1 all-time against South Dakota. Last season, Kansas City scored twice in the first half at home to take down the Coyotes on Oct. 15, 2-1.
Last Time Out...
The Kangaroos were eliminated from post-season contention with road losses to South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
Against the Jackrabbits on Oct. 19, UMKC fell 1-0 by way of a late goal during the 76th minute when forward Diana Potterveld controlled the ball in Kansas City's box and was able to shoot it out of the reach of keeper Nina Tzianos for the goal. Midfielder Darci Miller was credited with the assist.
At game's end, SDSU out-shot the Kangaroos, 17-12, with forward Taylor Bare tallying four to lead Kansas City, while Tzianos notched a game-high nine saves.
Two days later, Kansas City came up short to the Bison, 2-1.
With the Kangaroos down 1-0, the Blue & Gold tied the match during the 35th minute when midfielder Hunter Wagoner (3) fired a shot from the top of the box past keeper Sierra Bonham.
But, NDSU regained the lead for good during the 63rd minute when forward Arnisha Kinarth placed a free kick in front of the Kangaroos net as Meghan Johnston was able to knock it in.
A Win Over South Dakota Would...
Bring Kansas City's win total to six for the second most victories in a season in team history. Last season, the 'Roos won a team-best eight matches to finish 8-8-4 (6-2-1 SL).
Quick Glance at Next Season
With 10 student-athletes competing in their last match in a Kangaroo uniform on Saturday, Kansas City is set to return top scorers Taylor Bare, Hunter Wagoner, Hannah Chadick, Ashley Gann, Allison Schau, Sarah Todd, Sophie Rackham, and Ellie Chadick along with keeper Nina Tzianos next season.
After making its first appearance in The Summit League Championships in 2011 and falling short this season, Kansas City will look to bounce back in 2013.

The Kangaroos were 6-1-1 in league play and 8-6-4 overall coming off a 2-1 victory in double overtime at Oral Roberts on Oct. 27 to clinch a spot in the league tournament.
