Friday night, the 'Roos fell 2-1 in double overtime to Missouri State. Then Sunday afternoon, UMKC held the Tigers scoreless in the first half, but gave up three unanswered goals in the second. With that loss, it extended the 'Roos season-long losing streak to three.
This week, UMKC will begin a three-game home stand against the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Friday.
Scouting the Opponent
Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (3-3-2 as of 9/23)
For Nebraska-Omaha athletics, this is their year first in Division I after competing at the Division II level in recent years. Beginning next year, the Mavs will be a member of the Summit League.
As for the women's soccer program, they're currently in the midst of a season-long, eight-game road trip with UMKC being its fifth adversary. So far, Nebraska-Omaha has gone 1-2-1, with their lone win coming against the North Dakota Fighting Sioux on Sept. 16.
Not only are the Mavs on an eight-game road stretch, but they've also only played two home games this season.
Players to Watch
In eight games, sophomore forward Katie Pickinpaugh leads the team in goals scored (3) and points (6). As for junior forward Danielle Archuleta, she is second in both categories with two goals and four points.
Sophomore goalkeeper Katelyn Tschida has saved 37 shots (.725) and accumulated a 1.66 goal-per-game average along with two shutouts.
Head Coach
In his 13th season, head coach Don Klosterman is the first and only coach in Mavs history where he's accumulated a 196-55-12 record. He has four national semifinal appearances and the 2005 NCAA Division II national championship under his belt.
Rounding out his accomplishments, Klosterman has also been named National Coach of the Year twice.

What to Watch For
Home at Last
Coming off a five-out-of-six game stretch on the road in which they went 1-4-1, the 'Roos will for the first time since August return to DSSRF for consecutive games.
However, in four home games this season, UMKC has gone 0-3-1. Last time, they came close to getting that elusive first home victory against the Drake Bulldogs in a 0-0 tie.
The 'Roos will look to get off the schneid against either Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, IUPUI (Sept. 30), or Western Illinois (Oct. 2).
Mid-Season is Here
Through nine games, UMKC is 1-5-3 at the midpoint of the season. Despite one win, the 'Roos have shown improvement considering they were 1-8 at this point last season.
With 10 games remaining, nine of which are in Summit League play, the road will not be tough for UMKC. However, with the recent improvements, it will not go down with a fight.
Finnell Having Another Good Season
Like last year, junior keeper Jami Finnell has been very consistent. Through nine games, she leads the Summit League in saves (73) and saves per-game (8.11). Also, she's ranked fourth in save percentage (.811) amongst other keeper's in the conference.
