
Veterans Lead Kangaroos Past Jaguars, 73-55

Eldrige got the Kangaroos off to a good start with a three-pointer in the opening minute for a quick lead, pair that with an Eilise O'Connor jumper and a pair of free throws from Kaycie Boyles and UMKC was out to a quick 7-0 lead. A three-point play by Tinner would give UMKC a 10-point lead, 12-2, with 13:40 left in the first half.
The Jaguars were able to piece together short spurts here-and-there in the first half. IUPUI scored five unanswered points in the middle minutes of the first half, cutting the `Roos lead to three points, 12-9. But a pair of field goals from Thomas and Hill would get the Kangaroos back out ahead by seven points, 16-9.
Hall-Jones would put UMKC up by 11 points with a pair of free throws, she would go 6-of-7 on the night from the line, and Tinner would drain a jumper for a 13-point lead, 32-19, with 2:18 left in the first half.
IUPUI's Jasmine Horne would hit a jumper late but a good three throw from Eldridge would send the `Roos into the locker room with a 12-point lead, 33-21.
The Kangaroos would pull away in the second half, thanks to eight second half points from Thomas. By the middle minutes of the second half, UMKC was ahead by 18 points, 48-30. At the 7:36 mark, a three from Thomas would extend the `Roos lead to 21, 60-39.UMKC went 9-of-10 from the free throw line, shooting .808 percent on the night, to secure the win. The `Roos out-boarded the Jaguars 41-27, resulting in a 21-5 advantage in second-chance points.
The `Roos hit the road for a Summit League matchup with North and South Dakota State. UMKC will face the Bison first in Fargo, N.D., on Jan. 29 at 5 p.m., and then head to Brookings, S.D., on Jan. 31 for a game with the Jackrabbits at 7p.m.
