
`Roos Take Care Of Business At Centenary, 98-49

Shreveport, La. -- The UMKC women's basketball team took care of business on Monday night at Centenary, 98-49. The Kangaroos had five players finish in double figures, with Peyton Adamson leading the way with 14 points. Ashli Hill finished with 12 points, while Eilise O'Connor, Simone Bridges and Dayon Hall-Jones all finished with 11 points. The `Roos improve to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in The Summit League, while the Ladies fall to 0-15 overall and 0-8 in league play.
UMKC got out to a fast start in the opening minutes for a second game in a row. The Kangaroos were quick in transition and scored a couple of easy points to jump ahead by seven, 14-7, with 15:27 on the clock. Bridges pushed the Kangaroos ahead by 12 points, 21-9, following three free throws.
The `Roos led by as many as 17 points in the middle minutes of the first half. The Ladies were able to string together five points late in the first to cut the UMKC lead down to 12 points, 41-29. But an Adamson three-pointer with five seconds left would give UMKC a 15-point lead headed into the locker room.
The second half was really where the Kangaroos began to separate themselves from the Ladies. Following an O'Connor three-pointer, the `Roos jumped out ahead by 22 points, 58-36, with 13:55 on the clock.
Adamson hit her fourth three of the game at the 10:42 mark giving UMKC a 36-point lead and with less than five minutes remaining the `Roos held a 92-41 lead.
The Kangaroos shot .576 from the field, with Hill going 6-for-7. UMKC handed Centenary its 18th straight program loss.
UMKC is back in action on Jan. 22 against Western Illinois inside Swinney Recreation Center.
