
UMKC Takes On Indiana State On Friday

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team heads to Indiana for a match against Indiana State on Friday night at 6 p.m. The Kangaroos are in search of their first win in the 2010 season.
The Kangaroos are coming off of a 2-1 loss at Youngstown State. Despite the loss, Meagan Malloy scored her first collegiate goal against the Penguins. The `Roos head into the match with the Sycamores with a 0-4 overall record.
The Kangaroos went 1-17-1 in their inaugural season last year. UMKC landed its only victory last season against Southern Utah, 2-0, on Oct. 16.
Head coach Anita Rodriguez is back for her second season and brings with her 11 letterwinners from last season, all of who saw lots of action. The Kangaroos also welcome eight newcomers to the 2010 squad, seven freshman and one transfer.
Scouting the Opponent
Indiana State is currently 3-2 overall and on a three-game win streak. The Sycamores are coming off of a 2-1 overtime win to Eastern Illinois.
Indiana State went 5-10-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Head coach Erika True enters her first season with the Sycamores. The `Roos are 0-1 against the Sycamores, falling 0-1 on Sept. 27, 2009.
`Roos Snap Scoreless Streak
Meagan Malloy snapped UMKC's two game scoreless streak on Sept. 5, with her first career goal against Youngstown State. Malloy scored in the 65th minute following a pass from Zaina Mayer.
Also scoring for the Kangaroos this season are freshmen Ashley Gann and Taylor Bare. Gann also has one assist tallied in 2010.

The UMKC women's soccer team fell at Youngstown State on Sept. 5, 2-1. In the defeat, Meagan Malloy scored her first career goal. Jami Finnell recorded four saves against the Penguins.

The Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium & Recreational Field serves as the official home of the Kangaroos and provides student-athletes, students and community groups with one of the top soccer facilities in The Summit League and the Midwest. The $9 million dollar addition adds to the growing residential feel of the UMKC campus.
DSSRF provides seating for 850 fans and a separate addition hosts locker rooms for men's and women's soccer, softball and track & field, as well as offices for the respective coaching staffs and concession areas.
