
`Roos Take On Youngstown State On Sunday

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team will wrap up Labor Day weekend at Youngstown State on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Kangaroos are coming off of 1-0 loss at Cleveland State, dropping them to 0-3 on the season.
The Kangaroos went 1-17-1 in their inaugural season last year. UMKC landed its only victory last season against Southern Utah, 2-0, on Oct. 16.
Head coach Anita Rodriguez is back for her second season and brings with her 11 letterwinners from last season, all of who saw lots of action. The Kangaroos also welcome eight newcomers to the 2010 squad, seven freshman and one transfer.
Scouting the Opponent
Youngstown State is 1-4 in 2010, coming off of a 1-0 overtime loss to Howard. The loss to Howard marked the Penguins fourth loss in a row. Their only 2010 victory so far was against Robert Morris on Aug. 20. Sunday's match will mark the first between the `Roos and Penguins.

Home of the Kangaroos
The Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium & Recreational Field serves as the official home of the Kangaroos and provides student-athletes, students and community groups with one of the top soccer facilities in The Summit League and the Midwest. The $9 million dollar addition adds to the growing residential feel of the UMKC campus.
DSSRF provides seating for 850 fans and a separate addition hosts locker rooms for men's and women's soccer, softball and track & field, as well as offices for the respective coaching staffs and concession areas.
UMKC officially dedicated Durwood Soccer Stadium & Recreational Field on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 prior to the men's soccer game against Western Illinois.

UMKC Falls At Cleveland State, 2-0
The UMKC women's soccer team fell at Cleveland State on Friday night, 2-0. The `Roos recorded four shots, while Jami Finnell had 11 saves.
UMKC played lots of defense in the first half, being out-shot 8-1, but were able to escape a 0-0 half. It wasn't until the 62nd minute when Cleveland State would take a 1-0 lead. Natalie Daniels was awarded a penalty kick after a Kangaroo hand ball in the box to give her team the lead.
The Vikings would tack on an insurance goal later in the 75th minute, after Daniels was able to slot the ball in between the UMKC to defense to an on-running Slyvia Olsby.
