Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team hosted Western Illinois on Saturday at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field. The Kangaroos scored first but couldn't find the back of the net in the overtime period and dropped a 2-1 game to the Leathernecks. Alyssa D'Egidio scored her second goal of the year and Jami Finnell recorded eight saves during the game.
The pair battled it out and headed into the locker room tied at 0-0. D'Egidio scored first to give the Kangaroos a 1-0 lead in the second half. Western Illinois, however, tied things up just five mintues later following a Alison Smyth goal.
The Leathernecks ended the Kangaroos hopes of recording their first win in the 97th minute. UMKC falls to 0-13-1 on the year and 0-4 in Summit League play.
The Kangaroos host Southern Utah on Oct. 16 at 5 p.m.
