
UMKC Hosts Southern Utah In Women's Soccer Action On Friday Night

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team continues Summit League play with Southern Utah this weekend on Fri., Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. The Kangaroos are coming off of a 2-1 overtime loss to Western Illinois.
UMKC is currently 0-13-1 on the season and 0-4 in league play and is in search of the program's first win. For the `Roos, Zaina Mayer (3), Alyssa D'Egidio (2), Alyson Russell (1) and Meagan Shipley (1) have all scored goals this season.
D'Egidio Ends `Roos Drought
Freshman Alyssa D'Egidio ended the Kangaroos drought on Sunday against Western Illinois when she scored her second career goal. D'Egidio scored in the 51st minute to give her team a 1-0 edge over the Fighting Leathernecks. The Kangaroos hadn't scored a goal since Sept. 24 in the 2-1 loss to Drake.
Kangaroos In The Summit League
As a team, UMKC leads The Summit League overall in team saves with 115 headed into the game with Southern Utah. Jami Finnell continues to lead the league overall in saves and saves per game. The freshman has 114 saves on the year and is recording 8.14 saves per game in the back.
In just league matches, Finnell is second with 30 saves behind Laura Atkinson from Western Illinois. She is also tied for second in saves per game with Kristen McFadden from IPFW and Shannon Coley from Oakland at 7.50.
Hungry for First Win
The UMKC women's soccer team's first season is fast approaching its end, as the Kangaroos only have five regular season games left. The `Roos have three more contests at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field and a trip to the Dakotas before Summit League Tournament action begins. Despite being 0-13-1, the `Roos are still in search of their first win.

The Kangaroos scored first but couldn't find the back of the net in the overtime period and dropped a 2-1 game to the Leathernecks. Alyssa D'Egidio scored her second goal of the year and Jami Finnell recorded eight saves during the game.
The pair battled it out and headed into the locker room tied at 0-0. D'Egidio scored first to give the Kangaroos a 1-0 lead in the second half. Western Illinois, however, tied things up just five mintues later following a Alison Smyth goal.
The Leathernecks ended the Kangaroos hopes of recording their first win in the 97th minute. UMKC falls to 0-13-1 on the year and 0-4 in Summit League play.
