Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team continues Summit League play with Western Illinois this weekend on Sat., Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. The Kangaroos are coming off of a 3-0 loss to IUPUI.
UMKC is currently 0-12-1 on the season and 0-3 in league play and is in search of the program's first win. For the `Roos, Zaina Mayer (3), Alyssa D'Egidio (1), Alyson Russell (1) and Meagan Shipley (1) have all scored goals this season.
Kangaroos In The Summit League
Jami Finnell is on top The Summit League standings in saves. The freshman goalkeeper has recorded 106 saves headed into the home stance against Western Illinois. Finnell notched her 100th save in the 2-0 lost at IPFW this past weekend and was the first player in the women's program to be named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week back in September.

The UMKC women's soccer team may be 0-12-1 in its inaugural season but aren't down and out just yet. The Kangaroos continue Summit League play this weekend at home with Western Illinois. Despite their difficult non-conference schedule, the `Roos have been in almost every game, only dropping games by one or two goals to established programs.

Jill Kevorkian and Kellie Julius lead Western Illinois with three goals a piece. Meghan Tyk as logged in the most minutes in the back and is 3-4-1 on the year. Tyk has started in eight games and has 45 saves on the season.

The UMKC women's soccer team hosted IUPUI on Thursday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field. The Kangaroos were shutout 3-0 by the Jaguars and fall to 0-12-1 on the season and 0-3 in Summit League play. Jami Finnell was in goal for the UMKC and recorded six saves on the night.
IUPUI got on the score board in the 31st minute following a save from Finnell. A Jaguar took a shot from outside the 18-yard box and put it on frame. Finnell blocked the ball but due to the wet conditions was unable to control it and Megan Hock took advantage, giving her team a 1-0 lead. The Kangaroo defense was able to hold up and escape the half down 1-0.
UMKC had Jaguar goalkeeper Jamie Farrell on her heels for a second in the first half as Meagan Malloy took a shot from outside the 18 and hit the right post.
The Jaguars caught the Kangaroos sleeping twice in the second half and scored a pair of goals just two minutes a part. The 3-0 win over the Kangaroos extended IUPUI's winning streak to 10 games.
Malloy, Ariel Rank and Randi Simmons all posted shots for the `Roos.
