Returning to the Kansas City as the Director of the Men of Character Academy and the Director of Student-Athlete Development, JaVon Hill brings a wealth of experience and passion for fostering student success. Previously, at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR, Hill served as an Academic Counselor within the Office of Student-Athlete Success (OSAS) from May 2021 to May 2023. During his tenure, he provided mentorship and academic support to two intercollegiate athletic teams: Football [Offense] and Men’s Tennis. His responsibilities included maintaining detailed progress toward degree and eligibility documents, establishing purposeful relationships to enhance student-athlete experiences, and facilitating communication between coaches, advisors, and faculty. Additionally, he co-led the GameDay Professor Program and managed a social media team, enhancing the visibility and engagement of OSAS initiatives.

Prior to his role at the University of Arkansas, JaVon Hill served as an Academic Support Intern at Villanova University in Villanova, PA. In this capacity, he provided academic counseling and support to student-athletes across multiple sports, developed and distributed "The Wildcat Read" newsletter, and facilitated the Villanova Rothman Institute Student-Athlete of the Month program. Additionally, he served as a VEXP Assistant Facilitator, designing and delivering leadership-focused curriculum to enrolled students.

Before his time at the University of Arkansas and Villanova University, JaVon Hill began his career at UMKC, serving as an Assistant Athletic Advisor within the Student-Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO). During his tenure from August 2018 to May 2020, he provided academic advisement to student-athletes, coordinated priority registration, and co-led the student-athlete development program "Jerseys to Suits." Hill's commitment to student success, coupled with his diverse experiences in academic advising and student development, positions him as a valuable asset to UMKC's mission of supporting student-athletes' holistic growth and achievement.

The Kansas City, MO native is graduate alumni of UMKC with a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia in Parks, Recreation, and Sport.
