Kansas City Opens Up the Summit League Season with a 3-1 Win Over ORU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The No. 4 Kansas City Men's Soccer Team opened Summit League play in style Saturday night, defeating Oral Roberts 3-1 at Durwood Stadium to claim all three points and move to the top of the league table.

Kansas City (6-1-2, 1-0-0 SL) controlled much of the opening 45 minutes, putting six shots on goal in the first 15 minutes and 10 total in the half. The Roos broke through in the 20th minute when Brevyn Cole delivered a cross that was flicked on by Raphael Kistmann to the back post, where Mark Ramarola headed it home for his second goal of the season.

Nine minutes later, Kansas City doubled its advantage. Bryce Outman found Kistmann at the top of the box, and the senior midfielder calmly finished to give the Roos a 2-0 lead. The goal marked Kistmann's fourth of the season.

Oral Roberts pulled one back just before halftime, scoring off a corner kick to cut the Kansas City lead to 2-1 at the break. Despite the late Golden Eagle goal, the Roos controlled the half, outshooting ORU 10-3.

The Golden Eagles came out with increased pressure after halftime, forcing Kansas City goalkeeper Brandon Kincaid into a save in the 53rd minute. The Roos quickly regained control, however, as Ramarola struck again in the 62nd minute. Ramarola collected the ball outside the box and unleashed a screamer into the upper 90, giving the Roos a 3-1 advantage and completing his brace. The Frenchman now has three goals on the season.

Kansas City controlled the remainder of the match, limiting Oral Roberts to just two second-half shots to secure the 3-1 victory and open Summit League play with three points. With the win, the Roos move to the top of the Summit League standings.
