
Men's Basketball Signs Jibbe Sicking

The 2023-24 Dutch Rising Star of the Year will join the Roos in 2026-27
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball and Head Coach Mark Turgeon have officially announced the signing of Jibbe Sicking, a forward hailing from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Sicking joins the Roos after an impressive prep career, playing in the BNXT League and spending time with the Dutch national team.
"I chose Kansas City because of Coach Turgeon," Sicking said. "We had great conversations and UMKC is a great program with all of the new coaches."
During his time in the BNXT League, Sicking spent time with Apollo Amsterdam and Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden. His first full season in the BNXT was with Apollo in 2022-23, where he played 19.1 minutes per game, averaging 6.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. The following season, he began playing with ZZ Leiden, where he spent the 2023-26 seasons. The 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons saw him average 4.1 and 4.2 points per game, respectively. In 2023-24, he aided the team to a Dutch championship and a Super Cup championship and was named the Dutch Rising Star of the Year. He took a jump in 2025-26, averaging 6.8 points per contest to go along with 3.0 rebounds. The team qualified to the Dutch championship once again with Sicking scoring in double figures three times throughout the team's playoff run.
Sicking has also been a staple on the Dutch national team, playing for the U18, U20 and U25 teams. He played in the 2022 FIBA U18 Division B European Championship, averaging 7.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. In 2023, he was with the U20 team for the Division B European Championship, going for 13.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.Â
