Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Women's Basketball begins postseason play with contest against second-seeded South Dakota State in the Summit Quarterfinals on Thursday at noon. Kansas City has won their opening game of the Summit Championship in three of the last four seasons.Â
- In the Jackson-Durrett era, Kansas City is 2-0 in the quarterfinals round of the Summit League Championship with both victories coming over North Dakota State. In 2023, the tenth-seeded Roos took down the second-seeded Bison 71-64 while the 2025 tournament saw six-seeded KC beat three-seeded NDSU 68-58.Â
- On Tuesday afternoon, The Summit League announced Elauni Bennett as a Second Team All-League selection while Emani Bennett earned a spot to the Honorable Mention All-League squad. El. Bennett leads the Summit on the offensive glass, grabbing 4.2 ORPG and ranking seventh in the country. Em. Bennett averaged 14.3 PPG, the seventh-highest mark in the Summit League this season.Â
- The Bennett twins bring six games of Summit Championship experience to the table. El. Bennett averaged 18.5 PPG and 13.5 RPG with a pair of double-doubles in last year's tournament. Em. Bennett holds a career average of 14.7 PPG in her postseason career, scoring in double figures in all three of her prior conference tournament games.Â
- Zaire Harrell is tied for eighth on the Roos all-time games played leaderboard, suiting up in 121 career games. Harrell has played in 29 or more games four times in her career, making her one of three players in the Summit League to accomplish that feat from 2023-26.Â
- South Dakota State enters the Summit Championship as the three-time defending champions. The Jackrabbits are 24-6, 14-2 in conference play and enter the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed behind top-seeded NDSU.Â
- This is the first time the Jackrabbits have entered the Summit Championship lower than the No. 1 seed since the 2019-20 season.Â
- SDSU saw both Brooklyn Meyer and Madison Mathiowetz earn bids to the All-Summit League First Team. Emilee Fox landed herself to the All-League Honorable Mention team while Hadley Thul was on the All-Freshman team.Â
- Despite 25 all-time meetings, the Roos and Jackrabbits have only met once in Sioux Falls back on March 6, 2012 in the Summit title game. SDSU won 78-77 in an overtime classic that saw the Jackrabbits clinch their fourth Summit tournament title in a row.Â
