Tory Lanham took home a gold and two silver medals in Grand Forks, winning his second career Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship honor
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Kansas City Track & Field's star sprinter Tory Lanham took home the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship following the Summit League Indoor Championships meet in Grand Forks, N.D. this past weekend. Additionally, KC concludes the 2025-26 indoor season with six Roos earning Summit All-Leage status. Included on that list are: Tory Lanham, Stephen Clunis, Najee Simpson, Arvesta Schine, Isaac Kane and Jacky Perez-Vela.Â
For Lanham, the MOP distinction is the second time in his career he has earned such honors. The first came after the 2025 Summit Outdoor Championships. Last indoor conference meet, Lanham won the Men's Track Championship MVP award. Lanham showed off his sprinting excellence on the biggest stage in the conference once again, taking the 200-meter dash crown for the second straight indoor season in a row and the fourth consecutive time combining indoor and outdoor since 2024. Lanham ran a first-place time of 21.13 seconds to nab the individual championship. Lanham also made noise in the 60-meter dash, setting a new personal record of 6.73 seconds and stealing the silver medal in the event. The Oak Park HS product polished off the meet by running the back leg of KC's second-place 4x400-meter relay time of 3:14.24; with Lanham running the fastest 400m split of the race.Â
Clunis nabs All-League distinction following a gold medal performance in the 60-meter dash final that saw the senior sprinter take the tape in 6.69 seconds, five hundredths of a second away from breaking the meet record. The Wingate transfer ranks tied for 33rd in the country in the 60-meter dash this indoor season, with a career-best time of 6.61 seconds at the Crimson & Gold Invitational. Clunis completed a great comeback story as the Kingston, Jamaica native worked his way from missing last year's Summit Indoor Championships due to injury to becoming a conference champion and taking away his first career Summit All-League this time around.Â
Simpson grabs his fourth career Summit All-League honor, third in indoor, following his contributions to the 3:14.24 time that netted the Roos a silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay. Simpson got the Roos out strong in the first leg, setting the table up for a second-place finish. Simpson qualified for the 400-meter dash final, finishing seventh in the Summit by taking the tape in 49.12 seconds to net points to Kansas City's final tally.Â

Schine pushed the Roos forward in the the second leg of the race, upping the pace and getting Kansas City squarely into the hunt. Schine took ninth place in the open 400-meter dash, running a time of 49.09 seconds on Friday. Schine's career-best time came at the 2024 Summit Outdoor Championships where the senior ran 47.5 seconds to nab the bronze medal and a spot on the podium.Â

Kane ran a strong second to last leg, keeping Kansas City within striking distance of the leaders. Kane set a personal record in the open 800-meter dash, tallying a time of 1:53.75 to place him 15th in the conference.Â

The time was not only a personal best for the sophomore sprinter but it also set a program record too, besting the prior record of 55.55 set by Teresa Thomas in 2024. Perez-Vela finished on the podium, snagging the bronze medal after entering the finals as the fourth fastest runner in the event from the preliminary round.Â
