
Lanham Named Summit Indoor Men's Track Athlete of the Year

The feat is Tory Lanham's second career conference player of the year designation, but first for indoor season
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Kansas City's own Tory Lanham brought home the Summit League Indoor Men's Track Athlete of the Year award following a fantastic indoor campaign, the Summit League on announced on Monday afternoon. Lanham beat out out stiff competition to earn his second career conference athlete of the year award, narrowly edging out Louis-Lys Fanucchi of North Dakota, Kaleb Foltz of North Dakota State and Abraham Chelengam of Oral Roberts in the voting.
Lanham's first honor of this variety came last spring, when the Oak Park HS product won the Summit's Athlete of the Year designation on the men's track side following the 2025 outdoor season. In the 2025-26 indoor season, Lanham continued to set PR's, break school records and win medals at the conference meet.
The Kansas City, Mo. native's season was spotlighted by racking up 20 points at the Summit League Indoor Championships, which earned him 'Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship' honors. Lanham defended his 200-meter dash title with a time of 21.13 seconds, taking gold in the event for the second straight indoor season and fourth consecutive overall.
In the 60-meter dash, the sophomore sprinter took the tape in just 6.73 seconds, good for a new personal record and the silver medal. Lanham polished off the day by anchoring Kansas City's second-place 4x400-meter relay team to a time of 3:14.24 which added two points to his overall score.Â
Throughout the season, Lanham impressed time and time again, winning the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week award four times, including a three-peat on the men's track side from Feb. 10-24. Lanham's four 'Peak Performer of the Week' honors is the most of any athlete in the Summit this indoor season and the most in a single season of any men's athlete in the conference since the 2020-21 season. Lanham also set a trio of school records on the indoor side this year with times of 20.82 in the 200m, 33.47 in the 300m and 47.62 in the 400m.Â
