- Kansas City Men's Basketball returns to the Swinney Center for the final home stand of the regular season on Thursday evening, taking on South Dakota State. The Roos are looking for their first victory over the Jackrabbits since a 72-67 win at home on Feb. 15, 2024.
- The Roos are coming off a loss against North Dakota State that saw Kasheem Grady II lead the Roos' scoring efforts with 15 points. Grady has reached double-digit scoring in 13 games this season and has led KC in scoring six times, coming off the bench in five of those six.
- Chris Dockery has been a statistical leader for Kansas City since the beginning of conference play, averaging 9.4 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game. He is shooting 55.1% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range.
- Jayson Petty has emerged as a shot-blocking threat for the Roos in recent games. He went for a pair of blocks against North Dakota State on Saturday, his third game in the last five with multiple blocks. Prior to the current stretch, Petty had not had more than one block in a game this season and had done so just four times in his collegiate career.
- As a team, Kansas City ranks fifth in the Summit League with an average of 6.3 steals per game. The Roos have nabbed five-plus steals in nine out of 14 Summit League games.
South Dakota State Notes
- South Dakota State enters Thursday's game with a 13-16 overall record and a 6-8 mark in league play. The Jackrabbits currently sit in a tie for sixth place in the Summit League standings.
- Joe Sayler leads the Jackrabbits with an average of 13.9 points per game. Close behind him is Damon Wilkinson, who averages 13.7 points per contest.
- As a team, South Dakota State leads the Summit and are top-100 in the nation with an average of 36.90 rebounds per contest.
- SDSU leads the all-time series, 25-5. The Jackrabbits are Kansas City's seventh most-played opponent of all time.
- The Jackrabbits took this season's initial meeting, 90-62 on Jan. 17. CJ Evans went for nine points and seven assists in that game.
