
Belmont Leads Way for Roos at Gans Creek Classic

Mariah Belmont posted a women’s 6K team-best 21:45.3, placing top 50
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kansas City Cross Country garnered hard-fought results at the Gans Creek Classic Friday morning. The Roos totaled 635 points in the women's 6k race, finishing 23rd as a unit. KC totaled 851 points on the men's side, finishing 26th as a team.Â
Mariah Belmont led the charge in the women's 6k race, finishing with a time of 21:45.3 to give the Roos 33 points, the best mark on the team and good for 49th among 200-plus racers. Additionally, Harper Barlow and Alanie Rivera performed admirably to aid the Roos' cause. Barlow recorded a stellar time of 23:46.3 and finished as KC's second best runner behind Belmont. Rivera notched a career-best 6k time of 23:49.4, the third best time by a Roo in the race.Â
On the men's side, Dalton Heller was the Roos top finisher in the 8k race with a time of 26:07.8, which gave KC 154 points to their total score. Evan Kiefer and Eli Block came in as the Roos next best finishers. Kiefer notched a time of 26:40.8 while Block took the tape with a time of 27:06.6, a career-best 8k time for the junior distance runner.Â
