Tory Lanham ran a time of 20.33 seconds at the NCAA West Preliminary 200-meter dash quarterfinals
COLLEGE STATION, TX - Kansas City Track & Field made it to the big stage of the NCAA West Preliminary thanks to the 200-meter brilliance of Tory Lanham. The sophomore nailed down a season-best time of 20.51 seconds at the Arkansas Twilight which earned him a qualifying time for the regional meet. Going into College Station, Lanham's 20.51 was tied for the 14th best time in the west region and 38th best nationally.Â
On Friday evening, Lanham delivered his best performance to date, sprinting a new program-record time of 20.33 seconds. Lanham's 20.33 put him fifth in his heat but ninth-best among the field of 24 runners (top 12 qualify) in the quarterfinal round of the 200-meter dash. In Wednesday night's first round, Lanham clocked in with time of 20.73 seconds to finish second in his heat and 12th best overall out of the 48 runners.Â
Lanham not only proved he can hang with the very best 200m racers in the country, he also punched his ticket to the biggest stage in sports at the collegiate level, the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships meet in Eugene, Oregon. By making the national meet, Lanham is also a 2025 NCAA All-American, perhaps the finest of his many achievements this season. The sophomore will have a couple of weeks to rest up and then take center stage to compete in the 200m semifinals in Eugene from June 11-14.Â
