
Roos to Battle With Drake in Two-Game Home Opening Stretch

Kansas City returns to the Urban Youth Academy to host the KC Roos Invitational
Kansas City Softball will host Drake and St. Thomas for the KC Roos Invitational for their home opening matchups at the Urban Youth Academy this weekend. The action kicks off with Kansas City playing Drake at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by a doubleheader between the Bulldogs and Tommies at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Then the Roos will face off against Drake one more time on Sunday at noon before the Bulldogs play St. Thomas at 2 p.m. for a final time to round out the five game weekend. Â Â

- Kansas City picked up their first wins of the season at the Norman Invitational, besting East Texas A&M by scores of 12-3 (5 inn.) and 5-4 this past weekend.Â
- The Roos plated 12 runs in Saturday's contest against the Lions, getting their first double digit run performance against a non-conference opponent since KC took down Houston Christian by a score of 13-3 last season.Â
- Grace Batdorf had a big weekend for the Roos, slugging five hits and six RBI's in KC's two victories over the Lions. - Maddy Duvall picked up the win on Saturday against the Lions, tossing four strikeouts and giving up three earned runs on three hits across three innings pitched. Maddie Parker earned the win in Saturday's bout with the Lions, surrendering just two hits and no runs across 3.2 innings pitched.Â
