Chris Dockery went for 11 points and 10 boards, five Kansas City players reached double-digits
CARBONDALE, Ill. - Despite a 101-78 loss to Southern Illinois this evening, Kansas City Men's Basketball showed several encouraging signs as it continues to build early-season momentum. Forward Chris Dockery was the bright spot inside, powering his way to an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, his first of the season. His energy on the glass helped Kansas City keep pace for much of the first half.
Karmello Branch continued to light it up from deep, knocking down four threes for the second time in as many games en route to 18 points. Jayson Petty added another steady performance with 14 points, marking his second straight and 32nd career game in double figures. CJ Evans chipped in 12 points while Trey Booker-Lowery provided a spark off the bench with 10 points in his first action as a Roo.
The Roos battled hard on the offensive boards where they tallied 16, but a red-hot Saluki offense proved too much down the stretch.
Kansas City (1-1) turns its focus to Tuesday's noon tip off at the Swinney Center, where they'll host Iona, looking to build on their strong individual performances and secure their second win of the season.
