The Roo Report
Kansas City Features
- Kansas City Men's Basketball enters the 2025-26 season with the sixth position in the Summit League Preseason poll, garnering 187 total points. The Roos were ranked ahead of Denver, North Dakota and Oral Roberts.
 - It will be a new-look roster for the Roos this season, bringing in 13 new faces and returning just two players. Of the 13 newcomers, six come from the junior college ranks, six spent last season at another Division One school and one is a freshman.
 - Jayson Petty is the lone returning starter for Kansas City. The junior from Phoenix, Ariz. started in 32 games last year, scoring in double digits 22 times and averaging 11.0 points per game. He was the 2023-24 Summit League Freshman of the Year and was voted as a Preseason First Team All-Summit League player by coaches and media.
 - Kasheem Grady II is Kansas City's only other returning player, appearing in 29 games and making five starts last season. The second-year Roo averaged 5.1 points per game last year, including a streak of four-straight games in double digits from Nov. 18-24.
 - The Roos' JuCo recruiting class is highlighted by the signings of Trey Booker-Lowery, Chris Dockery and CJ Evans. Booker-Lowery spent the last two seasons at Lemoore College in California, earning First Team All-Central Valley Conference honors and emerging as the No. 1 ranked recruit in California according to jucorecruiting.com.
 - Dockery spent his redshirt and freshman years at Weber State before transferring to Independence CC last year. He averaged 16.9 points at Indy, going for 20-plus in 10 games and earning All-KJCCC honors. According to Rivals, he was a top-100 junior college recruit last season.
 - CJ Evans will look to fill the point guard role for Kansas City, joining the Roos from Ranger College. He led the entire NJCAA in assists last year, averaging 7.8 per game. He also went for 17.6 points per game, earning First Team All-Region 5 and All-NTJCAC honors.
 - Addarin Scott comes to Kansas City after spending the last two years at Auburn, redshirting during the Tigers' Final Four run last season. He made 15 career appearances during his time at Auburn and spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Navarro College.
 - A native of the Kansas City metro, Kernan Bundy returns home after spending last season at Iona. Bundy appeared in 31 games and made five starts for the Gaels last year, shooting 38.1% from three-point range.
 - Kansas City will be road tested early in the season, playing five games away from home in the month of November alone. That stretch will include games at Texas and TCU, a pair of teams that the Roos have never played before.
 - Along with the games in Texas, KC will have meetings with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in non-conference play, giving Kansas City four total games against power conference competition, tied for the most since 2015-16.
 - The Roos will host four non-conference games against Division One opponents, welcoming Iona, Idaho State, Weber State and Austin Peay to the Swinney Center. That is the most DI out-of-conference competition that Swinney has seen since 2010-11.

Kansas City Features
- Originally from the Netherlands, Jerome Palm has now attended five schools throughout his collegiate career. He began his journey at Daytona State in 2020-21, also making stops at Hillsborough CC, Valparaiso and Hawai'i. The 25-year-old proposed to his now-fiancee during his senior night at Valparaiso.
 - Trey Booker-Lowery is starting two new adventures this year - not only will he be playing his first season at the Division One level, he also welcomed his daughter into the world this past August. He notes that his daughter's birth is one of his biggest motivating factors to work hard.
 - D'Andre Harrison is no stranger to winning as he was part of four state championship-winning teams during his time at Perry High School in Arizona. The true freshman's success did not come without hardship, breaking a growth plate in his knee and battling back to return to high-level play.
 - Palm and Babacar Mbengue add to the ever-growing list of international players coached by Marvin Menzies. Throughout his 16-year head coaching career, Menzies has coached 50 international student-athletes, believed to be the most among active Division One head coaches.
 - Cory Curtis Jr. has more than just hoop dreams! When asked about his dream job after basketball, he listed entrepreneurship and PGA pro as options. We'll put you in touch with Coach VanDenBorn, Cory.
