Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer looks to capture its second-straight Summit League Championship crown against top-seeded Denver on Saturday. The Roos will make their fourth-straight title game appearance, tying the second-longest streak for consecutive finals appearances in league history.
- All-time, the Roos hold a 3-5-1 record in conference championship games, claiming Mid-Con/Summit League titles with wins in 2001, 2003 and 2024 and advancing to the league's automatic bid on penalty kicks in 2008. Kansas City did not make any title game appearances during its seven-season stint in the Western Athletic Conference.
- KC advanced to the finals via a 2-0 win over third-seeded Delaware, becoming just the third team this season to shut out the nation's top-scoring offense. Wade Muttitt and Jeremy Francou found the score sheet for the Roos in the win.
- The Roos have played the one seed in conference championship action 12 times in program history, compiling a 4-5-3 in those games. Under Head Coach Ryan Pore, the Roos have played the top seed each of the past four seasons with a 2-0-2 record and one advancement via PKs.
- With his team-leading ninth goal of the season in the conference semifinal, Summit League First Team honoree Jeremy Francou has made his way into a tie for ninth place in the program single-season records. He has 21 total points on the year, just shy of cracking the top-10 in that category as well.Â
Denver Notes
- The Pioneers have qualified for the title match for the 11th time in the past 12 championships, seeking their seventh championship title under the lead of Head Coach Jamie Franks.
- Kyle McGowan leads the Pioneers offensively with seven goals and two assists on the year for 16 total points. He has gone for three goals in DU's last four games.
- Denver claimed the regular season meeting on Sep. 27 with a 2-1 win. The Roos scored on a 90th-minute goal from Joackim Betina.
- These teams are no strangers to postseason match ups. This is the fifth-straight year that they will meet in the Summit League championship and their third-straight title game meeting.
- Kansas City defeated DU in last year's title match, 2-1 thanks to a 90th minute goal from Elie Kisoka.
