Kansas City Notes
- Coming off back to back 1-3 defeats to Oral Roberts and South Dakota last week, Kansas City Volleyball returns home for their final stretch of the season. The Roos play host to South Dakota State Thursday night at 7 p.m. and Denver Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., both inside the Swinney Center.
- Kansas City has played both the Jackrabbits and Pioneers earlier this season, suffering a 0-3 loss to South Dakota State in Brookings back in early October. The Roos began conference play against the Pios, dropping a 1-3 decision to Denver on the road back in late September.
- Kansas City ranks highly in the Summit League when it comes to digging, racking up 1,349 total digs this season which slots in second place in the Summit as a whole. Additionally, the Roos come in nabbing 14.35 digs per set which is the fourth highest mark in the Summit League.
- The Roos have hit a high rate of attacks in the 2025-26 campaign, sitting at 3,202 total attacks as a team (3rd Summit) and 34.06 attacks per set (4th in Summit League).
- Lyla Jones reached the landmark 1,000 career assist milestone on October 21 vs. Omaha. The senior setter eclipsed the mark on her third dime of 20 total in the match. Jones leads the team in assists with 448 assists this season, ranking as the seventh best mark in the Summit this season.
- Alaina Larson ranks seventh in the Summit League in digs at 298 while holding a steady rate of 3.20 digs per set in 2025 which ranks as the ninth best mark in the conference. Larson has produced 15 matches of double figure digs including three matches of 10-plus digs in a row.
- Ledisi Kpea anchors the Roos defense, ranking fifth best in the Summit League in total blocks at 96 while averaging 1.02 blocks per set which ranks fifth best in the conference. Kpea's 20 solo blocks is also tied for the second best mark in the conference. On the other side, Kpea leads the team in points at 236, 2.51 points per set and hitting percentage at .251.
- Ryanne Wattree leads the Roos offense with 195 kills and a kills per set rate of 2.12, both team highs this season. The sophomore has produced eight matches of double figure kills to date in her breakout year two campaign including a team-best 12 kills in the Roos latest match vs. South Dakota.
- Kansas City has received notable contribution from freshman this season. Stella Smith has come around as an up-and-coming force in the middle, producing 71.5 points, 60 kills and 22 blocks in 2025. Mia Weaver leads the squad in service aces with 24 while posting 160.5 points, 124 kills and 205 digs, all third best marks on the team.
- South Dakota State is a perfect 13-0 in Summit League action this season while holding a record of 20-3 overall. The Jackrabbits last loss came on September 20, a five set defeat to Boise State.
- The Jackrabbits hold their opponents to a .155 hitting percentage, the lowest mark in the Summit this season. SDSU also produces 3.10 blocks per set this season which leads the conference and are the only squad in the Summit to post over 3.0 blocks per set.
- South Dakota State has rattled off four straight over the Roos, dating back to 2023. Three of the last four matchups between the Jackrabbits and Roos have been decided via the sweep.
- SDSU's Sylvie Zgonc and Sydni Schetnan lead the Summit League in kill and blocks respectively. Zgonc paces the Jackrabbits with a league-leading 4.26 kills per set while Schetnan has 128 total blocks this year.
- Denver holds a record of 15-10 overall and is .500 in conference play, sitting at 7-7 in the Summit. The Pios are looking to break a two-match losing streak and have dropped five of their last seven matches in conference play.
- Denver is top three in the conference in team assists and kills. When it comes to dishing out dimes, the Pioneers deal out 12.15 assists per set, ranking third in the Summit. Denver's 12.90 kills per set slots in third as well in the Summit.
- While the series history is brief, Denver is 8-4 all-time vs. the Roos and have won five of the six matches played at the Swinney Center since 2020.
- Denver's Kate Perryman boasts 1.01 blocks per set, ranking seventh in the Summit while Madison Winkler's, 315 total digs this season slots in as the third highest mark in the conference this year.
