
Kansas City’s Distance, Jumping Squads Take Center Stage in Columbia

Four Roos record career bests marks at the Bob Teel Invitational
COLUMBIA, MO. – For the third straight week, the Roos went to work at Mizzou's Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, showcasing plenty of growth across the board at the Bob Teel Invitational. Most notably, three Roos set new career best marks, one on the track and two in the field.
Sam Cleary took over the men's 3000m for the Roos, showcasing a stellar time of 8:39.46, shaving over half a minute off his previous career best. Evan Kiefer also set a career best time of 8:58.29 in the 3000m race. Nahshon Houston set a new career best in the triple jump, notching a 14.55 meter mark which is the third best mark in the Summit League this indoor season. Brooke Williams set her new career best on the women's triple jump side, getting after it with a 11.65 meter mark, good for eighth best in the Summit League.
TRACK EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Women's 1000m - Ceyda Bayur made the most out of her collegiate 1000 meter debut, running a 3:01.47 time, finishing second out of over a dozen competitors in the event. Bayur now has seven top five individual track event finishes in her career and three in her first year as a Roos this season. Earlier this season, Bayur ran a 1:38.87 time in the 600 meter dash, setting a new career high.
- Women's 60m - Kyrah Anderson came out strong in the 60 meter dash, taking the tape in 8.40 seconds, nearly equalling her 8.38 60 meter dash time last time out at the Show-Me-Showdown. Anderson also totaled a 28.16 second time in the 200 meter dash. Juliana Lupercio racked up a time of 8.76 in the 60 meter dash, coming just short of tying her career best of 8.75 which was set in last year's Cyclone Open.
- Men's 3000m - Following Cleary and Kiefer's career best outings, Dalton Heller came right up their rear totaling a time of 8:58.94, the third best time on the team for that event. Kaleb Glaizer took the tape with a time of 9:01.90 improving on his last 3000m time by nearly 20 seconds.
FIELD EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Long jump - On the men's side, Houston and Miguel Hernandez continued their streaks of consistent production. Houston lept a 7.01 meter mark, making it the fifth time the senior has totaled a long jump mark of over seven meters this indoor season. Hernandez recorded a 6.42 meter mark in the men's long jump, finishing tenth in the event. Ben Musa notched a 6.11 meter mark in the freshman's second collegiate long jumping event. On the women's side, Eyanagho came out strong with a jump of 4.89 meters.
- Triple jump - Houston continued on his hot streak, registering a triple jump mark of 14.55 meters, good for third best in the event. The 14.55 meter triple jump mark also netted Houston a new career best, surpassing the 14.15 meter mark he set in the triple jump last time out in the Show-Me-Showdown. Williams excelled in the women's triple jump, resetting her own personal record book with a 11.65 meter mark to give her a new career best. Additionally, Lupercio nabbed a 10.59 meter mark, tying her season best in the triple jump.
- Shot put - Eyanagho was the lone Roos in the shot put, delivering an excellent throw of 11.81 meters. That mark was good for 11th best in the event and her third best mark of this indoor season. Last time out, Eyanagho earned a career high of 12.23 meters in the shot put at the Show-Me-Showdown.
Next up for the Roos is a trip to Topeka, Kan. where Kansas City takes part in the Washburn Open & Multis for a two-day meet next Friday and Saturday.
