
Multiple Roos Impress as Track & Field Competes in California

Kansas City spread itself across three different meets throughout the three-day trip
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Kansas City Track and Field embarked on an exciting journey through the Golden State, engaging in high-stakes meets over three days. Their journey began with the beach invitation. Tory Lanham seized the spotlight as he completed his inaugural collegiate hundred-meter race. He crossed the finish line in 10.52 seconds, solidifying his position as the 8th fastest athlete in the Summit League this season.
Meanwhile, Teresa Thomas made a resounding debut at the Pacific Coast Invite, showcasing her skill in the four hundred meters with a time of 55.93 seconds, securing a notable fifth-place ranking in the Summit. On the field, Jaleesa McWashington delivered a standout performance, achieving a personal best jump of 5.98 meters, propelling herself into a tie for second place in the Summit League alongside her esteemed teammate, McKenzie Person.
Strategic precision was on full display as Nahshon Houston executed his third jump , soaring to a fourth-place finish and claiming a noteworthy second-place ranking in the league. The excitement reached its peak with Mason Rogers' outstanding display in the men's 100m, where he blazed to a new personal best of 10.61 seconds, sparking a surge of adrenaline that propelled Logan Pratt to a 10th-place finish in the 400m with a time of 48.36 seconds, currently placing him third in the Summit League standings.
The pinnacle of the weekend came when Junior Joan-Rocha-Navarro finished second in the men's open B section, clocking a 3:48.39, a personal best that secured him fifth place in the Summit League and etched his name in program history.
With the Summit League Championships a mere three weeks away, the team's momentum is palpable as they set their sights on Lawrence, Kansas, for the highly anticipated KU Relays.
