Starting Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball enters the final week of regular season play with a lot still on the table. The Roos currently sit at 8-6 in league play and are tied for third in the Summit League standings, but a share of the league title is still in play, theoretically. Should Kansas City come away from the final week with a pair of wins, South Dakota State with a pair of losses and North Dakota with at least one loss, the Roos would have a share of the first conference title in program history.
- The Roos have been on a roll across the past two weeks, winning a season-best four straight games and bringing the season total to 14 wins. One more win would bring KC its second 15-win season in the past three years and the 12th in program history. It would also be the 12th time in Head Coach Marvin Menzies' 14-year head coaching career that his team has tallied at least 15 wins in a season.
- Jamar Brown earned Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors for his play last week, the first weekly award that a Roo has earned this season. Brown surpassed the 20-point mark in both games, scoring 28 against South Dakota and 22 against Omaha, while also averaging 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 3.0 threes per game across the week. He has scored in double digits in 14-straight games and has six 20-point games on the year, including four in the past seven games.
- Kansas City's bench continues to bring some of the best production in the nation, averaging 25.28 points per game, which ranks first in the Summit and 52nd in Division One. KC has had a double-digit scorer off the bench in six-straight games and in 17 games total this year.
- The Roos found a way to win against Omaha despite making just five three-pointers, only one above the team's season low. KC's 23.8% clip from three was the lowest in a win this season.
Denver Notes
- Denver enters Thursday's game at 6-8 in Summit League play, holding the seventh spot in the standings.
- Kansas City took the first meeting between these teams, 85-71, with help from a career-high 25 points from Tyler Andrews and 23 from Jamar Brown. The Roos held DU's Tommy Bruner to 12 points in that contest.
- The Roos own a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series between these two teams, but Denver has won 3-of-4 games played in Colorado, including an 85-83 triple overtime thriller last year.
- The Pioneers have the 12th-best scoring offense in the nation, averaging 83.9 points per game.
- Bruner leads the nation with a 25.1 points per game average, while Touko Tainamo is sixth in the Summit with an average of 17.0 ppg.
