Briona Woods led the Roos at-bat with three hits
Manoa, Hawaii - Kansas City Softball (0-6) struggled to get going at-bat, falling 5-1 to Nevada (3-2). The Wolf Pack got an early lead in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs, and repeated in the bottom of the third to give themselves a four-run lead. Kansas City was not ready to give up, Briona Woods earned the first hit of the day with a single, and the following batter was walked to put Kansas City in scoring position, but no Roos were able to cross home plate. Kansas City looked to make a comeback in the sixth inning, loading the bases with no outs, but Nevada held them to just one run, clinching the win.
The Roos faced a defensive battle early but fell to BYU (5-0) 3-0. The Blue and Gold held the Cougars without a run for the first three innings, but a three-run fourth inning gave BYU an edge. Kansas City saw its handful of scoring opportunities, with both Woods and Lexy Smith notching singles. The two both earned singles in the first game, Woods notched her second hit of the day in the bottom of the second and Smith earned hers in the bottom of the fourth, advancing to third base before the Cougars closed the inning with a ground out. Kansas City came up with another big defensive stop to keep BYU from adding to their score in the top of the fifth when the Cougars loaded the bases. The Roos stop was enough to keep them in the game, but cold hitting prevented them from staging a rally. Â
