Kansas City Women’s Soccer celebrates Senior Day in its final match of the season
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City celebrates Senior Day on Sunday, honoring Riley Moore, Meghan White, Caijah Anderson, Ririka Kamimura, Sophia Limongi, Gabrielle Simms, I'yawa Brewer, Kayda Kamolz, Lily Stedman, Madison Page and Lily Hollis. Of the eleven honorees, eight have spent four or more years at Kansas City with Anderson and Limongi playing five seasons. Â
- The Roos will look to break their two-game losing skid and close conference play with a win over Omaha. Kansas City is 0-1-2 in their last three meetings at home against Omaha and 1-2-2 in their previous five games.
- Brianna Castleberry leads the team in shots with 40 so far this season. She currently ranks fifth in the Summit for the same category, with 15 in her six conference appearances. She is also tied for fourth in the league for game-winning goals with one.Â
- Keeper, Maddie Sibbing has been a key piece for the Roos during conference play, notching 31 saves across her six appearances. She ranks second in the Summit in saves per game, averaging 5.17. The redshirt freshman has made ten starts for the Roos this season.Â
- A win or a draw against the Mavericks would allow Kansas City to match last year's finish with 11 results. In 2023, the Roos finished the season with three wins and eight draws. The Blue and Gold have more than doubled their wins this season with seven.Â
- This season, 11 different individuals have found the back of the net for Kansas City. Adriana Benassi leads the team with five goals.
Omaha NotesÂ
- Sunday's meeting will be both Kansas City and Omaha's final game of the regular season. The Mavericks currently rank third in the Summit just one point behind South Dakota State. Kansas City ranks eighth in the League just one point shy of St. Thomas.Â
- The Mavericks enter the match coming off back-to-back draws last week against Denver and Oral Roberts. The pair of matches ended in 1-1 stalemates with Omaha coming behind from behind in both to earn the draw.Â
- Omaha's Alyssa Kellar ranks sixth in the Summit for goals with five across 16 games, two of which came during conference play. She ranks first on the team in goals and third in assists with three.Â
