Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Women's Soccer is into the postseason for the second time in Coach Jess Smith's tenure, taking on fourth-seeded South Dakota in the quarterfinal round. The Roos are 7-9 all-time in postseason matches, including a 3-1 record in quarterfinal appearances. KC's most recent postseason showing was a 2-1 loss at the hands of #3 Oral Roberts in the 2023 Summit League quarterfinals.
- The Roos had four players named to the All-Summit League awards list, the team's most since six players earned All-WAC honors in the 2018 season. KC's two first teamers are the most since 2019.
- Olivia Platt was named First Team All-League, the first honor of her Kansas City career. Platt ranks second on the team with seven goals and five assists on the year, and her 10 points in conference play are the most in the Summit League.
- Riley Porter also earned First Team All-League honors after finding her stride in the back half of conference play. She has scored a goal in four of KC's last five games and is tied for the league lead in goals during Summit League competition.
- The league leader in total goals and points, Delfina Zolesio was named Honorable Mention All-Summit. This is the fourth all-league honor of her collegiate career, grabbing an All-AMC nod three times during her career at Columbia College.
- Ashley Koch rounds out the Roos' postseason award winners with an Honorable Mention All-League nod. Koch leads the team with six assists on the year, tallying four since the start of Summit League play.
South Dakota Notes
- South Dakota takes the four-seed into the conference tournament with 11 points in Summit League play. The Coyotes defeated St. Thomas, North Dakota and Omaha throughout Summit play.
- Klarissa Vega ranks second in the Summit League in goals and points, trailing only KC's Delfina Zolesio.
- South Dakota ranks 90th in the nation in shots per game, averaging 14.28 per contest.
- The Roos lead the all-time series, 9-4-2, including a 4-2-0 edge in games played in Vermillion. This will be the first-ever postseason meeting between the two teams.
- KC and USD played to a 1-1 draw in their regular season match up on Oct. 9. South Dakota's Brooklyn Boyer scored the opener at the start of the second half and KC equalized on a Zolesio penalty kick in the 65th minute.
