Roos Lose Tight Matchup Against Missouri State

Kansas City fell one run short, unable to convert the seven left on base
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Kansas City (6-33, 1-8) dropped its single game against Missouri State (21-16). The Roos opened the game hot, earning four hits in their first four innings. The Bears were the first on the scoreboard, making quick work of their two hits and holding on by one for the rest of the game.
Both Katie Noble and Bailey Brumley were important pieces for the Roos. Noble secured three hits and one run in her first three at-bats and Brumley threw a career-high five strikeouts. Ultimately Kansas City could not hang on leaving seven runners on base.

Kansas City returns to Summit League play hosting a home series against Omaha. The Roos and the Mavericks face off in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. and a lone game Sunday at 11 a.m.

- Top 2 / 1 – 1 | A single from Noble allowed the Roos to tie the game. A sacrifice bunt from Katherine Karnatz along with a ground out from Lexy Smith advanced Noble to third. Taylor Kvale hit a single to right field, batting in Nobel and getting Kansas City on the board. Missouri State added another run in the bottom of the third to regain the lead.
- Top 4 / 1 – 2 | Noble nailed another single up the middle to open the inning. She advanced to third on a foul ball and ground out, but Kansas City was not able to convert.
- Bottom 4 / 1 – 2 | Missouri State saw a glimpse of a scoring opportunity with runners on second and third with two outs. However, a forced foul out from Bailey Brumley kept the Bears scoreless in the inning.
- Top 6 / 2 – 3 | Noble made it on base with her third hit of the day but was forced out on a fielder's choice from Karnatz. Smith got to work quickly with two outs nailing a double and batting in Karnatz to put the Roos within one.
- Top 7 / 2 – 3 | Kiki McCrea hit a single up the middle with two outs. McCrea was advanced to second with a Nichols walk, but the two were left on base.
- After going hitless for the last five games, Noble went three for three at bat nailing a single in each appearance matching the career-high she earned against SIUE on March 30. This was Nobel's sixth multi-hit game this season.
- Stolen bases were key for Missouri State. The Bears tallied four stolen bases while the Roos prevented from stealing.
- Bailey Brumley bested her career-high, throwing five strikeouts in five innings. She threw four strikeouts against South Dakota on April 1, her previous career high.
- Kvale's RBI was just her second this season, the first of which she earned on April 1 against South Dakota.
