The Roos dropped a close one to the Cardinals before UTA pulled away in the second game

ARLINGTON, Texas – Kansas City Softball (4-13) lost a pair of games in Arlington on Saturday, falling to 1-3 on the weekend. The Roos first lost yet another heartbreaker to Lamar, 3-2, before UT Arlington pulled away late for a 11-4 victory in the second game of the day.

Ally Vonfeldt led the Roos from the plate, going for two hits and scoring a run in the first game, and going for a run and and RBI in the second game. Vonfeldt, Katherine Karnatz and Lexy Smith all went for doubles against the Cardinals.

KEY MOMENTS VS. LAMAR

Top 4 / 2-2 | Lamar went ahead with a pair of runs in the first two innings, but Marina Karnes drove in Vonfeldt and a single by Amelia Fitzgerald scored Smith to tie the game up.
Bottom 4 / 2-2 | The Roos used a double play, Smith, to Karnatz to Bailey Brumley to keep a Cardinals' scoring effort at bay.
Top 7 / 3-2 | In a pinch running situation, Espy Daniels made it to second base, but the Roos could not advance her any further and Lamar took the win.

Top 1 / 2-0 | The Roos jumped out to an early lead, as an error by the Mavericks' pitcher allowed Karnatz to score, and one play later Vonfeldt drove in Daniels.
Top 3 / 4-2 | UTA scored two in the bottom of the second to tie the game up, but Noble singled and scored Karnatz and then Fitzgerald brought home Vonfeldt.
Top 6 / 4-7 | The Mavericks put together five runs in the bottom of the fifth, and Smith singled to open the sixth as the Roos attempted to respond, but KC could not bring her around. UTA went for a grand slam in the bottom of the inning to take the game.

STATS TO NOTE VS. UT ARLINGTON

All four of the Roos' hits were singles, with Noble leading KC with two hits.
KC was able to put the ball in play, striking out just once throughout the game in 26 at bats.
The Mavericks went for two home runs on the game, just the third time this year that the Roos have allowed a team to go for multiple homers.
