Ally Vonfeldt homered, but the Bluejays were able to silence KC's bats afterwards
OMAHA, Neb. - Kansas City Softball (5-19) was unable to get the bats going against Creighton (13-11) this afternoon, falling in a pair of matchups, 10-1 and 6-0. Ally Vonfeldt hammered her second home run of the season in the first inning of the first game, but the Roos were held scoreless across the next 11 combined innings.
KEY MOMENTS | GAME ONE
- Top 1 / 1-0 | In the second at-bat of the game, Vonfeldt went yard for the second time in as many games, scoring the Roos' lone run of the game. Creighton responded with three in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
- Top 3 / 1-3 | Singles by Lexy Smith and Vonfeldt, along with a drawn walk by Katie Noble, loaded the bases with just one out. The Bluejays were able to get out of the jam and scored a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
- Top 4 / 1-4 | A one-out double by Kiki McCrea gave the Roos a scoring opportunity, but she was unable to move any further than third base.

- Bottom 5 / 1-4 | The Roos were in a jam with one out when Bailey Brumley made a diving play at first and appeared to convert an unassisted double-play. After conversing, the umpires called the runner at first safe, and Creighton scored the next six runs to end the game.
KEY MOMENTS | GAME TWO
- Bottom 1 / 0-0 | Camryn Stickel went three up, three down in the bottom of the first, getting both sides through the first inning without damage.
- Top 2 / 0-0 | Katherine Karnatz and McCrea both reached base and advanced into scoring position, but Kansas City was unable to take advantage of the opportunity. Creighton homered twice in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
- Bottom 5 / 0-5 | Jenna Milan struck out the first two batters of the inning, but the Bluejays added three more runs on a walk and pair of homers from the next three hitters.
- Top 6 / 0-5 | Vonfeldt reached base on an error, but was unable to come around to score. Creighton scored in the bottom of the inning to cement the final score.
STATS TO NOTE
- Across three games against the Bluejays this season, the Roos were shut out twice. The lone run came from the bat of Vonfeldt in the first game today.
- The Roos were no-hit in the second game of the day, despite four runners reaching base. It marks the first time KC has been held without a hit since May 4, 2019 against Grand Canyon.
- Stickel struck out two batters on the day, bringing her season total to a team-leading 33.
