Ugass notches a double-double, Nwachukwu and Bennett score in double digits in the win
KANSAS CITY, Mo- Kansas City Women's Basketball (4-5) took home a win in dominating fashion this evening against Bellevue (4-4) by a final of 84-34. It was a complete team effort for the Roos from the beginning, as all 12 Roos that entered the matchup finished in the scoring column, with three scoring in double digits.
Early on Kansas City played some of its best basketball of the young season, jumping out to a 16-0 lead in the opening period and shooting 50% from the field as a team. The defense was just as impressive, forcing 11 first-quarter turnovers and grabbing 13 rebounds. They held Bellevue to just four total points in a dominating first quarter.
The Roos never slowed down, going on to shoot 53.8% as a team and dropping a season-high 83 points en route to their second consecutive win.

- 3Q – 3:34 / 61-22 | In what had become a theme for the Roos at this point, Contreras got a steal at halfcourt and took it herself for the easy deuce.
- 4Q – 8:44 / 73-31 | Simmons picked up a steal and passed it to Phillips on the fast break who would dish it back to Simmons for the layup as Kansas City continued to add to its impressive lead.
- Kansas City held Bellevue to just four points in the opening quarter, the least amount they've allowed all season in a single quarter.
- Ugass notched the Roos' first double-double of the season bringing down 11 rebounds and putting up 11 points. It was Ugass's first double-double since earning 10 points and 22 rebounds in the Roos 61-39 loss against North Dakota on Feb. 18, 2023.
- The Roos never trailed in tonight's win, marking their first wire-to-wire win of the season.
- The 50-point win is the largest Kansas City has had since it beat Chicago State by 53 on January 5, 2019.
- Kansas City shot 53.8% from the field as a team tonight, the first time they've shot north of 50% this season.
