Men's Soccer Set to Close Regular Season with Trip to Denver

The Roos will take on (RV) Denver tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. CT
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City looks to close out the regular season on a high note, having earned seven points across the last three conference matchups. That is an improvement over KC's first four conference games, which saw them earn just two points on a pair of draws.
- Robin Balters has put together three-straight clean sheets in the net for Kansas City, a first for the Roos since 2017 and something that has been done just four times in program history. The program record for most consecutive shutouts is four, done in 2010 against Eastern Illinois, Centenary, Oakland and Illinois-Chicago.
- Kansas City's defense has also played a monumental role in securing the shutout streak, allowing just 1.7 shots on goal per game across the last three contests. In the past three games, Cade Martin has played 265 minutes while Seth Kacich has played 251. After making his debut against Western Illinois, Guille Munoz Villarejo has played 90 minutes in each of the last two games.
- In the last five contests, Kansas City is averaging 14.6 shots per game, and is placing 5.4 of those shots on target. In the first 10 games of the year, the Roos averaged 10.7 shots per game and 4.0 on frame.
- Edson Murguia scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute against St. Thomas, his third goal of the year, tied for the team lead. All of his goals have come since Sep. 23, and he is responsible for 37.5% of Kansas City's goals since that point.
Denver NotesÂ
- The Pioneers secured the Summit League regular season title last weekend with a 1-0 win over Oral Roberts. It is the Pios' ninth conference title since joining the league in 2013.
- Denver is currently the first team outside of the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25, receiving five votes.
- Oje Ofunrein and Sam Bassett lead the Pioneers' offense with eight and seven goals, respectively. Bassett also has five assists for 19 points, ranking second in the league.
- These teams first met in Kansas City on Oct. 7, a 1-0 win for Denver. The Pioneers scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute and weathered a storm of 20 shots from KC to secure the win.
- Kansas City has had some success in Denver in the past: both of the Roos' all-time victories over DU came on the road, most recently in 2009.
