DENVER - Kansas City Men's Soccer (4-7-5, 2-3-3 Summit) closed out the regular season on the road this afternoon, falling to (RV) Denver (11-2-4, 7-0-1 Summit), 2-0. The loss snapped Kansas City's streak of three-straight shutouts, allowing one goal in each half.
KEY MOMENTS
- 4' / 0-0 | Kansas City had the first opportunity of the day as Christian Koffi found Eliott Labeth in the attacking third. Labeth went streaking towards the left side of the goal, sending a shot that was saved out of bounds for a corner kick.
- 30' / 0-0 | Both teams took time to settle in, but found their strides around the 20-minute mark. Kansas City attempted a pair of shots and Denver attempted five shots within a 10-minute stretch, with the final shot forcing Robin Balters into his first save of the day.
- 43' / 0-1 | Denver reached the back of the net on a goal that glanced off of Balters' arm, but could not be stopped from scoring.
- 49' / 0-1 | Kansas City came out attacking in the second half as Dylan Ashford looked to chip a ball above the Denver keeper, but his attempt was punched away.
- 66' / 0-1 | A crossing pass found Koffi in the middle of the box with a clear look at goal, but his shot attempt went just above the crossbar and out of bounds.
- 71' / 0-2 | Denver extended the lead, and Kansas City was held to just one shot the rest of the way.
