Volleyball Hosts Kansas, KC Roos Classic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball opens up home play this week, hosting the 19th-ranked team in the nation, Kansas, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Roos follow this up by hosting Northern Illinois and Wichita State in the KC Roos Classic.

Kansas City Notes

Over the span of Sep. 7-14, Kansas City will face off against Kansas, Wichita State and Kansas State all three of neighboring Kansas' Division One schools. The Roos have played all three teams in the same season just twice before, in 1995 and '98.
The Roos host the KC Roos Classic for the first time since the 2019 season. In the last rendition, the Roos defeated Louisiana Tech before losing to South Dakota and Tulsa.
All-time, Kansas City holds a 26-21 record at the KC Roos Classic, going undefeated in 2015 and 2018.
This will be the first time that either Northern Illinois or Wichita State have participated in the Classic.
Kansas City has the second-best hitting percentage in the Summit League and the 91st-best in the nation, swinging at a 0.242 clip through six matches.

Kansas Notes

Kansas holds a 23-0 all-time record against the Roos in a series that spans back to 1994. The Roos have taken at least a set in four of the past five meetings.
Through six matches, the Jayhawks have lost just one set, allowing just 18.7 points per set.

Northern Illinois Notes

Kansas City and Northern Illinois have met just one time before, a 3-0 win for the Huskies in 2000.
NIU hosted fellow Summit League team South Dakota State in their Huskie Invitational, losing in three sets.

Wichita State Notes

The Roos and Shockers have met 26 times in the past, but not since 2008. The Roos have defeated the Shockers twice, with both wins coming in Kansas City.
Middle blocker Natalie Foster is the reigning American Defensive Player of the Week, compiling 11 blocks.
