Volleyball Travels North for Summit League Matchups

The Roos will take on North Dakota tomorrow and North Dakota State on Saturday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball looks to build a winning streak on the road as the Roos take to North Dakota for a pair of Summit League matchups.

Kansas City Notes
- The Roos snapped an eight-match losing streak with their win 3-1 over Western Illinois on Tuesday night. The eight-game streak was the longest of Coach Christi Posey's tenure.
- Odyssey Warren sent across 20 kills against the Leathernecks, her second 20-kill match of the year. Across the last four matches, Warren is averaging 5.0 kills per set along with 3.1 digs per set.
- Just a freshman, Kimora Whetstone has made her mark in the block for Kansas City. She averages 0.95 blocks per set, which ranks eighth in the Summit League.
- Kennedy Schritenthal has been stout in the back line for KC's defense. She averages 4.27 digs per set, ranking third in the Summit League and 85th in the nation.
- For each of the past three seasons, the Roos have finished top-four in their conference in aces per set. This year has stood in stark contrast thus far, with KC ranking ninth in the Summit with an average of 1.10 aces per set.
- Just two Roos, Warren and Georgia Mullins, have started all 15 matches for Coach Posey to begin the season.Â
- Sydney Henry and Peyton Van Nest have posted very similar setting numbers, averaging 4.83 and 4.75 assists per set, respectively.
North Dakota Notes
- The Roos and Fighting Hawks will be meeting for the seventh time in program history. After losing the first two meetings, KC has rattled off four-straight wins, all of which came in the 2021 calendar year.
- Led by first-year Head Coach Jesse Tupac, UND is off to a 5-9 start to the year, including league wins over Western Illinois and St. Thomas.
- The Fighting Hawks are coming off a 3-1 loss to South Dakota State on Tuesday.
- Ashlyn Olson and Elizabeth Norris lead the North Dakota attack, averaging 2.57 and 2.19 kills per set, respectively.
North Dakota State Notes
- The Roos and the Bison will be meeting for the 21st time in program history, with NDSU owning a 15-5 advantage all-time.
- The Bison won 15-straight meetings to begin the series, but the Roos have taken the past five, beginning with a neutral-site win in 2014.
- North Dakota State is off to a hot start in Summit League play, earning wins over St. Thomas, Western Illinois and South Dakota. The Bison will take on Oral Roberts before Saturday's meeting.
- Both Syra Tanchin and Ali Hinze average over three kills per set, both top-ten in the Summit.
