Hilbrenner hit her fourth triple of the season, leading the Summit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Softball (10-30, 6-8) dropped a 10-inning battle to Western Illinois (8-30, 4-11) in the series finale, 2-4. The Roos were one out away from a shutout when Western Illinois used a pair of clutch two-out hits in the seventh and the tenth innings to come out on top.

Bottom 1 / 1-0 | Alexis D'Ambrosio reached on a walk, Ally Vonfeldt hit her to second, then Delainey Fenoglio moved her 60 feet closer with a sac fly to deep right field. Lexy Smith found no-mans land in right field to drop one in to score D'Ambrosio and put the Roos in front.
Bottom 3 / 2-0 | Kloe Hilbrenner started the inning with a triple and came into score on a deep sac fly to left field by Vonfeldt.
Top 7 / 2-2 | A two-out single up the middle scored both runners in scoring position for Western Illinois to tie the game.
