Michela Xibilia went to three sets, but the Roos couldn't pull out a win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Tennis fell at the hands of Wichita State this afternoon, 6-1. The Roos' lone point came by default as the Shockers were unable to field a full team.
Kansas City began with an early advantage in doubles as Wichita State did not have a No. 3 team, but Laura Munoz-Baroja and Michela Xibilia fell at No. 2 doubles to even things out. Despite an early 3-1 lead on the No. 1 court, Grace Ball and Eva Kresovic fell 6-3 and the Shockers took the doubles point.
The Roos were able to keep matches close in singles play, but could not quite pull out any victories. Michela Xibilia came the closest on the No. 2 court, falling 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. It was her fifth three-set match of the year, and the first in which she failed to emerge victorious. Riddhi Sharma fell by a pair of breaks at No. 4, 7-5, 6-4, and Grace Ball suffered the same fate at No. 1, 6-4, 6-4.
The Roos are back in action this Tuesday as they take on Saint Louis at the Plaza Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
