Jacie Hoyt won over 80 games in her five years in KC, earning two postseason bids
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics has officially announced that Jacie Hoyt, who concluded her fifth season on the sidelines for the Roos in the WNIT on Thursday, has accepted an offer to become the head coach at Oklahoma State.
"Kansas City will always have a special place in my heart," Hoyt said. "I'm forever grateful for the administration, staff, players, fans, and donors who believed in me and supported the vision we had to build a program into something to be proud of. When I got there, I vowed to leave the program better than I found it, and there's no doubt we were able to accomplish that."
Hoyt pieced together one of the most complete coaching tenures in program history during her time in Kansas City. Since taking over for the Roos prior to the 2017-18 season, she has accumulated an 81-65 overall record, including a 48-31 mark in conference play. In her five years, Hoyt led the Roos to two 20-win seasons, a conference regular season championship, the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament bid and a WNIT bid.Â
"Coach Hoyt has left an indelible mark on our women's basketball program, and our university at large," Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Brandon Martin said. "We will forever be indebted for the impact that she has had our our student-athletes and the Kansas City community. We wish her and (husband) Daniel (Heflin) the best in the next chapter of their journey at Oklahoma State."
Kansas City will begin a nationwide search for its next head women's basketball coach immediately.
