Starting Five
- Kansas City takes a 1-4 record to Estero, Fla. for the 2022 iteration of the Gulf Coast Showcase. The showcase is in its 10th year, and this is the second time that the Roos have made the trip. The first came in 2017, when the Roos dominated Manhattan, 74-63 in the first round, before losing a pair of three-point decisions against Georgia Southern and Penn en route to a fourth-place finish.
- Shemarri Allen has been a defensive menace in the first five games of the season. In addition to averaging a Summit League-leading 16.4 points per game, Allen has 16 steals on the year, which briefly led the nation. His current rate of 3.2 steals per contest ranks 15th in the NCAA, and he has also tallied three blocks and averages 6.0 rebounds.
- After missing the first three games of the year due to injury, Anderson Kopp has brought some needed three-point shooting to Kansas City's lineup the past two games, knocking down six triples on ten attempts. Last season, Kopp hit an average of 2.0 threes per game at a 41.9% clip.
- Despite struggling with foul trouble and failing to score against Kansas State, his first zero-point game since Feb. 12, 2021, RayQuawndis Mitchell is still averaging 10.2 points per game to this point in the year. Look for him to bounce back and play a large role in Florida, as he averaged 12.5 field goal attempts in the first four games.
- After falling behind by 16 and allowing 41 points in the first half to K-State, the Roos defense showed up in the second, limiting KSU to 28 points and zero threes.
Toledo Notes

- Kansas City dominated the first meeting between the two squads at the Swinney Center on Dec. 17, 2019, 72-57. The Roos allowed just 20 points in the first half and cruised to victory behind 18 points from Brandon McKissic.
- The last time the teams met up was in Toledo on Dec. 12, 2020, with the Rockets taking a 64-57 win. Kansas City scored five more field goals than Toledo, but the Rockets won by 16 points at the charity stripe.
- This year, the Rockets have had one of the best offenses in the nation to begin the season, averaging 96.7 points per game, which ranks fifth in the nation.
- Toledo is currently ranked fifth in the College Insider Mid-Major poll, behind just Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Furman and Drake.
- RayJ Dennis propels the Rockets' high-octane offense, averaging 21.0 points per game, which ranks 29th in the nation. In addition, he averages 8.0 assists per game, seventh in the nation.
