Kansas City Notes
Kansas City Notes
- Kassi Ginther has been the Roos threat up front so far this season, scoring four goals. That mark matches her career-high, which she also reached as a sophomore at Iowa State. Last year, the Roos' leading goal scorer all season was Rileigh Kuhns with three.
- Mackenzie Caldwell made her return to the net this past weekend, playing all 193 minutes. She made 15 total saves, facing 48 shots across the two games.
- Emma Byrne is the lone Roo freshman to have started all six games so far. Byrne has logged 416 total minutes, fifth-most on the team, and tallied an assist on Ginther's goal at Oklahoma.
- Kuhns knows how to find high-percentage shots, placing five of her six shots this season on frame. She scored the game-winner at Southern Illinois and is tied for the team lead with two assists.
- Kansas City returns to Durwood Soccer Stadium, where they are 1-1 this season and 2-5-1 in the Jess Smith era.
Iowa Notes
- This will be the first time in program history that the Roos have taken on Iowa.
- The Hawkeyes earned a 3-0 victory over the Summit League's South Dakota in their first exhibition of the year. Iowa's lone loss of the season came at Kansas, which KC also lost to in a 2-1 exhibition on Aug. 13.
- Iowa are led by Alyssa Walker and Kenzie Roling, each with four goals through six games. Hailey Rydberg has five assists, which ranks eighth in the nation.
Creighton Notes
- The last time the Roos hosted Creighton, they lost 2-1, snapping a five-game unbeaten streak against the Bluejays.
- Kansas City will be the fifth game in-a-row against Summit League opponents for Creighton. They earned victories over ORU and SDSU, a draw with USD, and play NDSU on Thursday.
- Ansley Atkinson has six assists on the year, tied for fourth-most in Division One.
