Ames, IA – Kansas City (24-19) travelled to Iowa State (26-18) for their ninth Big 12 matchup of the season. Ally Vonfeldt earned the only two hits for the Roos in the 0-8 six inning loss.
Iowa State got on the board first by stringing together a few base hits in the first frame. A grand slam in the fifth inning put the game away and out of reach for KC to earn their fourth win against a Big 12 opponent.
The Cyclone's drop ball pitcher continued to keep the Roos off the bases by using her defense to get routine groundouts. Kansas City didn't see their first hit until the fourth inning when Vonfeldt hit a powerful single that hit the centerfield warning track quickly.
Camryn Stickel started the game and threw 5.1 innings, never giving up an extra base hit to a very strong offensive team. She also added three strikeouts before Hayley Patterson took over in the circle.
Kansas City comes home for their final Summit League four-game series against Omaha. They will play a double-header on Saturday and Sunday that will have big implications in The Summit League Championship tournament bracket. The first pitch is scheduled for noon on Saturday, May 1st at the Urban Youth Academy.
