
Roos Dominate in Second Game over South Dakota

Vermillion, SD. Kansas City earns a tremendous victory in the second game of the doubleheader versus South Dakota. After a tough Coyotes offense succeeded in the first contest, the Roos would dominate at bat and finish the second game early 15-7.
During the first game, Kansas City charged from the start to lead early on the board. In the 2nd inning, Sydney McQuinn sacrificed with a bunt to forward Faith Willis to 2nd base. As Delainey Fenoglio crushed the ball to left field earning her fourth homerun of the season, the Roos earned two runs leading 2-0.
The Coyotes would challenge the Roos with aggressive hitting at the plate scoring two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and another two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Kansas City would score one more run off of a great double by Sydney McQuinn to bring Klover home in the top of the 7th. The first game concluded 3-5 to South Dakota.
As the second game ensued, the Roos utilized numerous opportune chances to try and change the momentum. After an error by South Dakota gave the Roos an advantage scoring one run in the top of the first, the Coyotes battled and scored 3 runs off a homerun in the bottom of the second. Starting the 3rd inning the Roos tried to take control on the offensive end. With the bases loaded, Sydney McQuinn sends a magnificent double bringing Willis, Vonfeldt and Hilbrenner home to put the Roos 4-3. Lia Lombardini then makes it home off a passed ball error heading into the third inning 5-3. The Coyotes returned the favor scoring another three runs taking the lead 7-5. Kansas City would hold off another run with a great defensive double play by left fielder Faith Willis throwing to home for the out and finishing the third inning.
In the top of the fourth, Senior Faith Willis earned a momentous homerun bringing in Vonfeldt tying the score 7-7. McQuinn follows to the home plate after D'Ambrosio singled to right field; updating the score 8-7 with the Roos taking the lead. Looking to bring her teammates to the bag, Katherine Karnatz singles to left sending D'Ambrosio and Denning home ending the top of the 4th inning 10-7.
Seizing another bases loaded opportunity, the Roos score four more runs in the top of the 5th. Senior Lia Lombardini hits to right field giving Vonfeldt the free path to home. Faith Denning makes a single to right field bringing Willis to the home plate followed by Alexis D'Ambrosio's double to welcome home Denning and McQuinn finishing 14-7.
Continuing to hold the Coyotes scoreless throughout the following innings, Katherine Karnatz made a thrilling triple to land on third base in the top of the 6th inning. Following at the plate, Ally Vonfeldt grounds one to bring Karnatz in and conclude the game with an astounding 15-7 final score.
