Volleyball Travels to ORU; Hosts UST, WIU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball will look to right the ship this weekend as it takes on Oral Roberts tomorrow, followed by home matches with St. Thomas and Western Illinois next week.

Kansas City Notes

Kansas City Volleyball looks to snap its first losing streak of the season this weekend as it travels to Oral Roberts, followed by a weekend at home against St. Thomas and Western Illinois.
The Roos currently sit in a tie for fourth place in the Summit League, matching the Golden Eagles with a 8-5 conference record.
Kansas City swept all three of its upcoming opponents in their early-season matchups, winning nine-straight sets from Oct. 9-16.
The Roos have one of the best back lines in the Summit League, averaging 16.38 digs per set, which is second in the conference. Maddie Renn averages 4.61 per set, the second-highest mark in the league, 62nd in the nation.
Melanie Brecka remains one of the nation's biggest point-scoring threats, averaging 4.14 per set. That is the fourth-best mark in the conference.

Oral Roberts Notes

The Golden Eagles have dropped their past three matches, falling to South Dakota State, South Dakota and Denver.
ORU's passing tandem of Byranne Soares and Sarah Thiessen make up the best passing game in the Summit. The Golden Eagles average a Summit-best 12.84 assists per set.

St. Thomas Notes

The Tommies broke a nine-game losing streak last weekend, defeating North Dakota in four sets.
UST's Carrie Rutledge averages 3.22 digs per set, as well as dishing out 40 assists on the year.

Western Illinois Notes

Western Illinois currently stands in eighth place in the Summit, taking wins over North Dakota twice and St. Thomas once.
The Leathernecks are led by Mariah Mitchell and Aubrey Putman, who average 2.70 and 2.27 kills per set, respectively.
